Im Lager Sandbostel X B Gemeinsamer Arbeitstag mit vereinten Kraeften Das Lager Sandbostel X B

On Saturday, February 6th, 2010 we organized a common work day at the memorial site of Sandbostel. About 20 volunteers came, a couple of reservists of the Federal Armed Forces as well as other people came to help set up the kitchen section for the commemoration planned for April 29th.

Lights, light switches, as well as plugs and power lines were installed. Other volunteers contributed by cleaning up the building and sweeping the floors. Further volunteers helped by putting some of the large size prints of wall paintings that have been made by french prisoners of war in Bremen, during the war, on boards. The boards are going to be hanged on the walls of the warehouse. These paintings were discovered in the 1990s, and immediately placed under a preservation order.

Conservators then took down the paintings from the walls and stored them appropriately. One of the paintings will be available to look at in the kitchen section, on April 29th.
