We should all look at the past more closely. We have to look at the past more closely.

Das Lager Sandbostel X BTake a couple of minutes to learn more about the history of the stalag of Sandbostel X B. We have collected information and published it on this website.

Basically, the durance of the labor camp of Sandbostel was relatively short; the proportions of  destruction however were terrible - more than 3,000 people were murdered, many were  tortured, many hurt and opposed to cruel acts. It is our duty to learn from the past.

We have to be ready to talk about what happened.

More importantly though: We have to be ready to talk about it openly - without playing anything down.

With our project "A bridge towards the Oste," subtittled: "Without truth no forgiveness," we are trying to do this exact thing: finding the truth. By doing so we want to contribute our part to the understand among people. Because without the truth, there cannot be forgiveness. What we need, as the future generation of people, is a clear and open examination of what happened.

Only by doing so we can forgive one another. And go on.
